Icelanders are among the most voracious readers and book publishers according to a recent article on R\u00daV, reporting on research done by Professor \u00c1g\u00fast Einarsson. In addition, more Icelanders work in an arts-related job, even compared with all other Nordic or EU countries. More attend the theater, visit museums and see movies. Yes, gefa \u00fat<\/strong> does look like give out<\/em>, but it means publish<\/em> \ud83d\ude42 Not too long ago I learned that give out<\/em> is gefa upp<\/strong>. Learning which prepositions to use has to be one of the hardest things in this language.<\/p>\n

You’ve probably noticed the phrase h\u00e9r \u00e1 landi<\/strong> – it’s used quite a bit to mean here in Iceland<\/em>. In many phrases that use land<\/strong>, the fact that it is referring to Iceland is often just understood (koma til landsins<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
